The Challenge Brass Band is pleased to announce we are now running a Training Band, for students, new players, or anyone who has not played in a while and wants to get back into the swing of things.

The Training Band starts at 6:30pm Tuesday nights at our Wanneroo Rehearsal Room at the Wanneroo Rec Center & finishes just before the Main Band starts at 7:30pm. At which point you are welcome to stay and listen or try your hand at playing with the main band when you are confident enough.

The Training band is open to all ages and abilities, but is aimed at beginners and those that have not played in a while.

Parents are most welcome to attend, and or even pick up an instrument and have a try themselves.

The Challenge Brass Band is proud to announce that they have received a Grant from Lotteries West for $10,000.

Wanneroo MP, Paul Miles, was on hand to present the cheque to the band he said he had attended many official services and events where the band had performed and was always impressed with their high level of professional performance.

“With this funding, the band can now purchase not only much-needed new portable band chairs, but even more importantly, a replacement BB-flat tuba” Mr Miles said.

The new tuba has been ordered from a specialist music manufacturer in England and should arrive within the next month or so.

“Lotterywest grants make very practical and ongoing difference to so many community groups,” Mr Miles said.

“Community volunteers give their time freely, but with costs increasing every year, Lotterywest funding helps to bridge the financial gap and ensure that our valued community groups continue to operate,” he
said.
